Freedom Professional Services is seeking a
Senior Design Engineer (SCADA)
to join our growing team. You will work on complex engineering projects supporting the country’s Net Zero targets, covering the entire energy system from generation to load-end consumers.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of teamwork, career achievement, and high-quality project experience, leveraging their professional networks for insights, new work leads, and support.Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain SCADA/communication systems for clients across utilities, oil and gas, manufacturing, and industrial automation sectors.Configure and optimize network infrastructure and communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, PRP, PTP, NTP, Modbus, OPC, Profibus, etc., ensuring seamless integration and secure remote access.Understand client requirements and produce network architecture diagrams, IED telecommunication diagrams, SCADA and Telecommunications Panel designs, IP allocations, I/O, and cable schedules.Assist with setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of SCADA systems and associated hardware at client sites.Design/develop SCADA/communication systems (e.g., Ignition, Siemens WinCC, GE iFIX) for real-time data acquisition and control.Conduct system upgrades, testing, validation, and implement cybersecurity measures.Collaborate with teams for system deployment, provide documentation and training, and support Protection and Control Design for utilities.Evaluate technical problems, propose solutions, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation like CDM and ESQCR.Review reports and drawings by Junior Engineers, mentor, and guide their professional growth.Adhere to SHEQ requirements and GSOP standards.Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferable)Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IET or IEE (highly desirable)Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and ESQCRFull UK Driving LicenseExperience with 11kV to 400kV detailed designProficiency in AutoCADCSCS (or similar) Card (desirable)Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar) (desirable)Benefits
