Our client is seeking a Senior Construction Manager for a contract opportunity within the nuclear sector. The role will act as the primary technical authority for construction, ensuring that site activities are delivered in accordance with approved designs, contractual requirements, safety arrangements and agreed project programmes. Security-cleared professionals with experience of major, highly regulated construction projects are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all site construction activities, ensuring delivery against approved designs, quality standards, programme targets and contractual requirements.
- Supervise construction teams and subcontractors, ensuring the competence, coordination and performance of all construction resources.
- Develop and apply processes for quality assurance, configuration management and construction management assurance, including subcontractor deliverables.
- Coordinate with project managers, contracts and commercial teams, project controls, designers, clients, facility managers and other stakeholders.
- Provide accurate construction progress information and maintain construction logic, programmes and reporting through relevant project systems, including CEMAR.
- Prepare and approve pre-construction information, construction phase health and safety plans, safe systems of work, waste management plans and environmental assessment plans.
- Plan site logistics, including laydown areas, access and egress routes, accommodation, parking, plant, tools and materials.
- Support effective communication, conflict resolution, testing and commissioning, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
Job Requirements:
- Active SC Clearance.
- Significant experience in senior construction management within major, complex or highly regulated projects.
- Thorough working knowledge of construction contracts and Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Strong understanding of major new-build projects and full project life-cycle delivery across multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge of HSG 65 and associated health, safety and management arrangements.
- Experience of working collaboratively within an Integrated Project Team and coordinating multiple interfaces.
- Nuclear new-build experience and knowledge of nuclear site licence requirements would be advantageous.
- Experience of crane schemes on highly regulated sites would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor''s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- IOSH qualification.
- NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.
- Master''s degree in engineering would be desirable.
