Senior Commercial Manager

Overview

You''ll lead the commercial strategy, oversee procurement and cost control, and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors. This is a high-impact role with visibility at board level, ideal for a commercially astute leader ready to drive value and performance across the project lifecycle.Responsibilities

Lead the commercial delivery of a major residential/mixed-use scheme from pre-construction through to final accountDevelop and implement project-specific commercial strategies aligned with business objectivesOversee procurement of trade packages, ensuring best value and compliance with company policiesManage contract negotiations, risk assessments, and dispute resolutionMonitor and report on project financials, including CVRs, forecasts, and board-level reportingDrive value engineering initiatives and challenge design development to optimise cost efficiencyEnsure robust cost control, variation management, and timely contractor paymentsMentor and manage a team of QSs, fostering professional development and accountabilityCollaborate cross-functionally with Technical, Construction, Sales, and Finance teamsRepresent Commercial interests in design reviews, client meetings, and stakeholder presentationsSkills and Experience

Proven experience in a senior commercial role within residential or mixed-use developmentStrong leadership and team management capabilitiesExcellent negotiation, analytical, and financial reporting skillsIn-depth knowledge of construction contracts (JCT, NEC) and procurement strategiesAbility to influence at senior levels and present confidently to the boardDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; MRICS preferredWhat''s in it for You?
