This is a little more than your standard Senior Commercial Manager role.

We''re working with an established and consistently growing contractor, currently turning over around -20m, with a track record of roughly 10% year on year growth.

They''re now looking for a commercially astute Senior Commercial Manager to join the leadership team and play a major part in where the business goes next.

The Opportunity

The business has traditionally delivered a strong pipeline of education projects, typically valued around the -2m - -3m mark, while maintaining a forward thinking and diverse approach, with a growing presence across residential schemes as well.

They don''t simply need someone to manage the numbers.

They want someone who understands the commercial detail but has developed into a confident, client facing leader. A strong Quantity Surveying background would lend itself particularly well to the role, with the ability to understand projects commercially from start to finish while also operating at a more strategic level.

You''ll work closely with the CEO and existing directors, taking increasing ownership of the commercial side of the business as the role develops.

They want someone personable and approachable, but with presence and authority. The type of person people is comfortable going to for advice and who gives the wider team confidence when they''re in the room.

What They''re Looking For

• Strong commercial construction experience, ideally with a Quantity Surveying background
• Excellent understanding of the commercial lifecycle of a project
• Confident, credible and personable in front of clients
• Someone who leaves no stone unturned commercially
• Able to develop new opportunities while nurturing existing relationships
• A natural leader who people can approach, trust and lean on
• Ambitious and looking for somewhere they can genuinely put down roots
• Someone interested in helping shape a business, rather than simply filling a position

Where It Could Lead

This is probably the most interesting part of the opportunity.

The current leadership team want to bring the right person into the business now, give them time to understand the company and its clients, and gradually hand over greater responsibility.
