Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Colour and Materials Designer to join our world-class Creative Materiality team. This is a lead role with responsibility for designing and developing sustainable and responsible colour and materials content for our core, special vehicle, and bespoke programmes.
You will be a hands-on creator and innovator, responsible for generating and realising innovative proof of concepts and material solutions for both interior and exterior applications, from initial concept through to production. A key focus will be on delivering more sustainable and responsible material initiatives and pioneering new methods of manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of colour, material, and finish (CMF) strategies for automotive programmes.
- Create and present compelling, innovative, and sustainable material concepts with a high level of craftsmanship.
- Manage the realisation of material solutions from concept through to production (Job 1), ensuring design vision, feasibility, and cost requirements are met.
- Drive sustainable and responsible material innovation, researching new technologies, processes, and suppliers.
- Act as a mentor and coach to other team members in design process and methods.
- Actively participate in weekly design reviews, providing strong contributions through suggestions and problem-solving.
- Work with minimal supervision to meet objectives and implement design independently.
- CVs MUST demonstrate the following to be considered:
- Degree qualified in a relevant design discipline or equivalent proven experience.
- Minimum of 5 years'' relevant experience in colour and materials design, preferably within the automotive, product, or luxury goods sectors.
- Proven creative and presentation skills with an exceptional portfolio.
- A strong understanding of product/interior design, the general design industry, and automotive design combined with excellent aesthetic judgement, colour vision, and perception.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and the supplier landscape.
- Advanced proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver projects to strict deadlines in a highly demanding environment.
- A self-motivated, results-driven individual who demonstrates tenacity, drive, and perseverance.
- Experience with additional software such as VRED for 3D visualisation.
- Video editing software skills (e.g., Final Cut Pro).
- Proven ability to adapt designs to changing feasibility, cost, and sustainability requirements.
