Senior COBOL DeveloperOxfordshire / Hybrid (1-day per week in office)Easily commutable from Birmingham, Coventry and London£55k - £65k + Corporate benefitsA long-established software business is hiring a Senior COBOL Developer to maintain and support its core platform during a 4-5 years migration project. You will work on a substantial estate of mission-critical COBOL applications running the business day to day, alongside an active programme of enhancements, regulatory updates and performance work.You will work in a small, Agile development team but take the lead on the COBOL work. The role is hands-on, mixing new development, BAU enhancement, production support and code archaeology across the legacy estate.Responsibilities:Writing new Enterprise COBOL programs and enhancing existing ones, including embedded SQL against DB2Owning batch JCL and online CICS transactions, including BMS maps and copybooksCode archaeology and data analysis across legacy modulesSupporting release management and code promotion across environmentsMentoring junior team members and helping shape technical standardsYour experience will ideally include:Multiple years of Enterprise COBOL or VS COBOL II on a real production estateStrong CICS, DB2 and JCL, with hands-on VSAMComfortable with copybooks, BMS maps and embedded SQL on z/OSCode management with Endevor, ChangeMan, SCLM or similarPragmatic approach to legacy code, with the patience to read it carefully before changing ..... full job details .....
