Senior Civil Engineer - Wastewater Non-Infrastructure

Salary: -55,00078,000 + 5% performance-related bonus (dependent on experience)

Location: Falmer, Brighton

Type: Permanent, full-time, hybrid - 2 days per week in the office (Monday and Thursday)



About the Role:

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join their Wastewater Non-Infrastructure team.

This is a technically focused role where you will provide technical leadership and guidance to a skilled design team while also taking responsibility for delivering your own civil engineering designs.

You will work across Wastewater Non-Infrastructure projects, including process upgrade schemes focused on areas such as phosphorus and nitrogen removal. The role combines technical design, engineering problem-solving, project delivery, stakeholder management and financial awareness.

You will work closely with Project Design Leads and a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, innovatively and with strong value for money.



About the Client:

Our client is a major UK water company responsible for providing essential water and wastewater services to customers across the South of England.

This is an opportunity to join an established Civil Engineering function, working alongside experienced Principal, Senior and Junior Engineers on a varied portfolio of wastewater projects.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the civil engineering design team.
  • Lead the delivery of Wastewater Non-Infrastructure projects from a civil engineering perspective.
  • Develop and deliver detailed civil engineering designs.
  • Provide technical input into wastewater process upgrade projects.
  • Analyse technical information and project data to support effective engineering decisions.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Design Leads and wider project teams.
  • Manage technical aspects of projects, ensuring delivery against programme, quality and financial requirements.
  • Ensure projects comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and improved value for money.
  • Take ownership of engineering decisions and drive solutions through to resolution.


What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Strong experience in Wastewater Non-Infrastructure Civil Engineering.
  • Experience working on wastewater process upgrades or similar treatment projects.
  • Experience of civil engineering design and technical delivery.
  • Experience working on phosphorus and/or nitrogen removal projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to provide technical leadership and support to other engineers.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to make decisions and drive resolutions.
  • Chartered Engineer status is preferred, although experienced candidates who are Incorporated or working towards chartership will also be considered.
  • Candidates with relevant Water Treatment or Infrastructure experience may also be considered where they can demonstrate strong transferable wastewater experience.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have the right to work in the UK and be able to work from the Falmer office two days per week, with Monday and Thursday being the required office days.
