Our Group Support roles are vital in helping over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure across water, energy, transport and telecom.Procurement is undergoing an exciting transformation journey, deploying best-in-class processes to ensure an innovative, reliable and cost-efficient supply chain that can grow with us to deliver the overall M Group Strategy. The Senior Category Manager is a new role in the team.This is a hybrid role, with travel to Stevenage required 2-4 times a month and travel to meet stakeholders and suppliers as required.What you’ll be doing

Join us as a passionate champion of subcontractor procurement, where you’ll lead the development and delivery of our subcontract category plan—driving long-term value and building strategic supply chain partnerships across divisions. You’ll harness data insight and market knowledge to influence decision making, shape commercial outcomes, and unlock cost efficiencies. From refining procurement practices and tools to embedding ESG principles and supplier innovation, you’ll be at the heart of our transformation journey. As a confident collaborator and people leader, you’ll manage supplier relationships and guide your team to exceed ambitious targets. Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in procurement and/or commercial rolesExperience with subcontract supply chain within infrastructure servicesStrong commercial mindset and analytical skillsProven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies and sourcing practicesAbility to build relationships across a large stakeholder base, influence and act as an expert across the organisation up to executive levelStrong leadership skills and prior experience of leading cross-functional or virtual teamsStrong negotiation and influencing skills, able to obtain consensus around credible, executable solutionsExperience with complex NEC4 contracting practicesWhat’s in it for you?
