Job Category:Underwriting Job Description:About the role:Industry Practices has been created to deliver market leading multiline solutions for specific high performing industry verticals. Our specialist underwriting team has built a bespoke client centric proposition tailored for the Healthcare industry in the middle market and major account space which is supported by claims and risk engineers. We are looking for a Senior Underwriter with experience in underwriting General Liability and Employers Liability focusing on the exciting Healthcare sector across UK, Ireland and International markets including Canada and CEMENA.ResponsibilitiesSupport the expansion of the International Healthcare Practice in line with Syndicate and Company platform plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of both Syndicate and Everest internal plans with a specific focus on General Liability, Employers Liability and Medical Malpractice.

Actively participate in the building and execution of the International Industry Practice plan.

Building out a Retail Proposition

Develop broker and customer relationships and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan.

Actively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.

Have the skills required in managing a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting and pricing, referral, processing, broker and client relationships; and servicing any new business requests in the same way.

Represent Everest at meetings both at the Lloyd’s box, in the office and during visits to brokers, Coverholders and other customers as required.

To refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority

To monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own portfolio of accounts and support the Deputy Head of Healthcare across the broader portfolio.

To liaise with the Claims Manager and the wider claims team on claims related issues.

Work with the actuarial team to effectively price individual risks and add influence to our rating process and dedicated rating models.

To participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required.

To ensuring all processing and MI is up-to-date in respect of any individual accounts

To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.

To assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website as required

Underwrite in compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest prescribed underwriting standards.

Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of TandE expenses.

Experience, Skills and CompetenciesProven experience within an underwriting role with a strong knowledge of writing General and Employer’s Liability for Healthcare accounts.

Willingness to learn how to underwrite Medical Malpractice

Knowledge of wholesale and retail business

Strategic skills – show an ability to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our business.

Judgment / decision making skills – shows ability to use logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making.

Risk taking – show the ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes.

Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support.

Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.

Relationship building – developing ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally.
