Wood is recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join our Process and Energy business within the Operations team. You will work directly with our client GSK where you will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing process (Strategy through Close Out) for the major procurement / subcontract packages.

This role is open to hybrid working with 3 days at the client’s office in Ware and 2 days remote.

The Role

As a Senior Buyer you will have clear understanding of the client’s contract requirements including Wood responsibilities and knowledge of how these are integrated into project supply chain strategies, plans, procedures and terms and conditions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further their career within a Supply Chain function. With a positive attitude and strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines we you will maintain positive relationships with suppliers, the client and wider Wood team.

Our client GSK is a Pharmaceutical manufacturing and RandD organisation. The Ware site operates 24/7 with 2 manufacturing streams OSD (Oral Solid Dose) Tablets and Capsules and Respiratory Inhalators for Asthma. The CapEx project team delivers projects across the Ware site including Infrastructure, Facilities, Utilities, Manufacturing Equipment (Dispensing, Blending, Sieving, Granulation, Compression, Coating and Assembly, labelling, Packing, Serialisation, Storage and Distribution). The RandD site (Research and Development) work closely with the Manufacturing site to ensure smooth and seamless scaling up of NPI from small RandD batches to large scale commercial batches.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities

Provides guidance, direction and support to all relevant stakeholders both on the contract and suppliers specific contractual obligations and responsibilitiesEnsures all supply chain activities are carried out in accordance with the project execution plan / schedule and contracting strategy, within approved budgets and in line with project processes and proceduresAssisting with development of processes and procedures, and communication to relevant personnelUpdate the project / procurement status report (PSR) in line with project / client required on site dates and current / estimate lead times, notifying any delays to the supply chain leadCarry out Supplier performance reviews and ongoing management ensuring corrective actions are taken where requiredEnsure that all statutory and legal requirements and procedures are complied with and all actions are fully auditableUnderstands and works to the client’s Project Management Framework, mandatory and best practice procedures

Expected

Substantial experience within a supply chain buyer / senior buyer positionDetailed knowledge of suppliers, commercial evaluations and negotiationsExperience of subcontract and framework agreementsExperience in New Engineering Contract (NEC)Excellent supply relationship management

Desirable

Previous experience with ERP systems i.e Maximo, SAP, Oracle
