Role: Senior Buyer
Salary: Market Competitive (Dependent on skills & experience)
Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, and services to meet operational needs, ensuring continuity of supply while balancing cost, quality, and delivery. The role involves working closely with both UK and overseas procurement teams and supporting sourcing for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase goods, materials, components, and services in line with cost, quality, and delivery targets (focus on metals and plastics)
- Ensure continuous supply and proactively communicate any risks to customer fulfilment
- Support supplier selection, assessment, and performance improvement
- Conduct supplier performance reviews (UK and overseas)
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective cost modelling (PPV)
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve savings
- Quote and price new parts for NPI projects, influencing sourcing and tooling decisions
- Implement supply chain strategy and foster collaboration between UK and overseas teams
- Contribute to operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong sourcing knowledge of plastics, metals, electronics, and fasteners
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Commercial acumen with a focus on cost-effective solutions
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Resilient under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
- Confident working cross-functionally on business and NPI projects
- Demonstrates integrity, respect, and alignment with company values
- Degree-level qualification in a business or technical discipline preferred
