About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Bench Hand Joiner to join a leading bespoke furniture workshop in Leicestershire.

This is a hands-on senior position where you will continue to produce high-quality bespoke furniture while overseeing a team of four joiners and helping to coordinate the day-to-day running of the workshop. You will be responsible for allocating workloads, monitoring progress, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and supporting the team to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced joiner looking to take the next step into a senior or team-leading role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate a team of four joiners.
  • Allocate daily workloads and monitor progress.
  • Lead by example and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Manufacture, assemble and finish bespoke furniture to a high standard.
  • Read and work accurately from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, cut and shape timber and other materials using hand tools, power tools and machinery.
  • Carry out quality checks throughout the production process.
  • Provide practical guidance, support and mentoring to team members.
  • Identify and resolve production or quality issues.
  • Liaise with management regarding workload, materials and deadlines.
  • Ensure safe working practices and workshop procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
  • Assist with material handling and general workshop duties where required.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Bench Hand Joiner, Furniture Joiner, Cabinet Maker or similar.
  • Strong practical woodworking and joinery skills.
  • Experience leading, supervising or mentoring other joiners is desirable.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in your workmanship.
  • Organised and able to manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional.
  • Strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment.
  • Able to take responsibility and lead by example.
