About the Role:
Our client is looking for a Senior Archaeology & Heritage Consultant to join their expanding multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the UK, including flood risk and climate resilience schemes, renewable energy developments, Scheduled Monument condition surveys, historic landscape assessments, Listed Building Consent applications and community engagement projects.

Working across archaeology, historic buildings and historic landscapes, you''ll play a key role in delivering technical assessments, managing projects and mentoring junior team members while helping clients navigate complex heritage challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver archaeological and heritage projects across the UK.
• Prepare Desk-Based Assessments (DBAs), Heritage Statements, Written Schemes of Investigation, Environmental Statement chapters, Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) and setting assessments.
• Undertake baseline research, including archive and site visits.
• Develop project strategies, identifying heritage risks and opportunities.
• Contribute to project design to minimise heritage impacts and maximise opportunities.
• Prepare and submit Scheduled Monument Consent and Listed Building Consent applications.
• Liaise with local authorities, Historic England, Conservation Officers and other stakeholders.
• Specify and oversee archaeological fieldwork programmes.
• Prepare tenders, fee proposals and project documentation.
• Manage project delivery, quality assurance and health & safety.
• Support business development activities.
• Mentor and support junior members of the team.

What Our Client is Looking For:

• Degree in Archaeology, Heritage Management or a related discipline.
• Membership of CIfA and/or IHBC, or willingness to work towards accreditation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience delivering archaeological and heritage assessments.
• Strong understanding of British archaeology, historic buildings and historic landscapes.
• Good knowledge of UK heritage legislation and planning processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Experience preparing fee proposals, scopes of work and tender documentation.
• Confident working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience mentoring junior colleagues.

Desirable experience:

• Geoarchaeology or palaeoenvironmental archaeology.
• Marine and intertidal heritage.
• Built heritage recording.
• Heritage setting assessments.
• Monument condition surveys.
• GIS (particularly QGIS) and CAD software.
