Role Purpose

Tower Hamlets Council is seeking a Senior Accountant to support both the Resources Directorate and the Chief Executive''s Office. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of one of London''s most vibrant and diverse boroughs.

This position is more than just finance; it''s a chance to influence how vital services are delivered to over 300,000 residents. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior managers, promoting value, accountability, and innovation across the Council.

What You''ll Be Doing• Acting as a Finance Business Partner to Directors, Heads of Service, and budget managers.• Leading financial planning, modelling, and forecasting for complex service areas.• Managing a small team and delivering high-quality financial insights and reports.• Supporting the Council''s Medium-Term Financial Strategy and annual budget process.• Playing a key role in closing the annual accounts and ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory standards.

What We''re Looking For• A qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience.• A confident communicator capable of influencing and challenging at senior levels.• A collaborative leader who can inspire and develop a high-performing team.• Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
