About the Opportunity
Lorien is delighted to be recruiting two Senior Accountants for a leading insurance group with a strong presence in the Lloyd''s/London market. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing, collaborative finance team at the heart of technical underwriting and financial reporting.
You''ll work closely with the Head of Financial Analysis and a small, expert team, supporting the syndicate, managing agent, service company, and capital portion for members. The role offers broad exposure across the business, with the chance to coach and mentor junior team members.
What You''ll Do
- Lead and deliver month-end close, ensuring timely and accurate submissions across multiple accounting systems (transitioning to a single platform).
- Post journals, perform reconciliations, and review balance sheets for technical and non-technical entries.
- Investigate and resolve issues with underwriting systems and data accuracy.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, and support regulatory and group reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with actuarial, FP&A, and other finance teams to provide detailed data models and reconciliations.
- Identify and drive process improvements, supporting finance transformation initiatives.
- Potential to manage and coach a reporting accountant.
What We''re Looking For
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2+ years'' post-qualification experience.
- Strong insurance sector knowledge-Lloyd''s/London market experience highly desirable.
- Understanding of underwriting results, insurance accounting, and the drivers behind premiums, earned/written income, and losses.
- Experience working to tight month-end deadlines (3-day close).
- Confident problem-solver, able to work independently and "dig into" data with minimal supervision.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with HFM, SAP, or similar systems is a plus.
- US GAAP exposure is beneficial but not essential.
Why Join?
- Work at the centre of technical underwriting output-see the bigger picture and interact with a wide range of teams.
- Excellent career development: previous team members have moved into actuarial, underwriting, and other finance roles.
- Supportive, flexible hybrid working (2 days in office, Monday plus one other day-flexible across the month).
- Be part of a team that values continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.
