Senior Accountant
An established independent accountancy firm in Alton is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its close-knit team. With a varied client base and direct access to the Partners, this is a role where you can take ownership of your work and build experience across more than just year-end accounts.
The position offers scope to broaden your knowledge across tax and management accounting, while working in a relaxed environment where you will have plenty of client contact and the freedom to manage your own workload. It would suit an experienced practice accountant looking for a role with variety and the chance to continue developing.

Senior Accountant – About The Role
You will work with a diverse range of clients, taking responsibility for their accounts while also getting involved in other areas of the practice. The Partners are closely involved in the business, so you will have regular exposure to senior decision makers and plenty of opportunity to develop your skills through hands-on experience.
The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys variety and wants to expand their experience beyond traditional accounts preparation. Key responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for a portfolio of clients
- Prepare year-end and statutory accounts
- Complete corporation tax computations
- Assist with personal tax work where required
- Prepare management accounts and financial reports
- Deal directly with clients and respond to accounting queries
- Review work and provide support to junior colleagues
- Work alongside the Partners on more complex client requirements
- Look for ways to improve processes and the service offered to clients
- Develop broader knowledge across accounts, tax and advisory work
The successful Senior Accountant will have:
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or approaching qualification
- Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice
- Experience managing or working with a portfolio of clients
- Strong technical accounts knowledge
- Good corporation tax knowledge, with personal tax experience beneficial
- An interest in developing further management accounting experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good attention to detail and organisational ability
- Confident Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems
- A practical, hands-on approach to your work
- Comfortable working autonomously within a smaller team
- Ambition to develop and broaden your experience
