Senior Accountant
This is a varied Senior Accountant role with genuine responsibility from day one. You will manage your own portfolio of clients, working across accounts and corporation tax while building relationships with businesses across a range of sectors.
There is plenty to get involved with beyond your own client work, from supporting junior colleagues and contributing to client development through to improving processes across the team. Senior Accountant – About The Role
At the heart of the role is a varied client portfolio, with a mix of accounts, corporation tax and regular client contact. You will work with businesses across different sectors, becoming a trusted point of contact and gaining a good understanding of the clients you support.
The position also offers involvement beyond your own portfolio. From supporting junior colleagues and contributing to client development through to helping improve processes, there are plenty of ways to broaden your experience and take on more responsibility as you progress.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact
- Prepare and review statutory accounts
- Prepare corporation tax computations
- Support and review the work of junior team members
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients
- Assist with pricing, proposals and new business opportunities
- Identify improvements to processes and ways to enhance the client experience
- Keep up to date with relevant accounting and tax developments
- Work closely with colleagues across the wider firm
- Take part in ongoing training and professional development
The successful Senior Accountant will have:
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or nearing qualification
- Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Experience managing a varied portfolio of clients
- Strong accounts and corporation tax knowledge
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good Excel skills and confidence using new systems
- Experience with Xero, Sage, CaseWare or CCH would be advantageous
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership
- Strong team-working skills
- Genuine ambition to progress within a national accountancy firm
