Senior Accountant

A long-established firm of Chartered Accountants, with over 10 years'' presence in the local area, is seeking a motivated Senior Accountant to join their expanding team. The Leek office currently has a close-knit team consisting of a Director, an Admin, an AAT, and an ACA trainee. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while supporting the development of the new office.
The successful Senior Accountant will take responsibility for overseeing a portfolio of 40-50 clients across accounts and personal tax, with a small element of audit. You will also review work prepared by junior staff, provide mentoring, and assist with the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone seeking variety, autonomy, and progression in a supportive environment.
Senior Accountant Job Overview

Senior Accountant Job Requirements
- Ideally fully qualified (ACA / ACCA), but part-qualified or qualified by experience will be considered.
- Strong background in accounts preparation and personal tax compliance.
- Experience in reviewing and mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to oversee the smooth running of an office and manage client relationships.
- Previous experience with small audits would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits
- Salary: -36,000 - -42,000 (dependent on experience)
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times between 8:00am-6:00pm
- Holiday: 20 days + 3 days at Christmas + 8 bank holidays
