Academics Recruitment Agency is currently working with several secondary schools across Halifax and Huddersfield who are seeking Behaviour Support Assistants to work with Year 7 students with SEND needs as they settle into their new environment.

About the Role:

These are rewarding and varied roles that involve:

• Supporting Year 7 SEND students with the transition into secondary school
• Helping pupils manage routines, build confidence, and regulate emotions
• Providing in-class and out-of-class support to encourage positive behaviour and engagement
• Working closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement tailored support strategies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
• A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to behaviour management
• Confidence in building rapport and offering consistent, positive reinforcement
• A genuine interest in education and pupil well-being

• Experienced Behaviour Mentors or Teaching Assistants
• Youth workers, sports coaches or those with a background in care or mental health support
• Graduates looking to gain experience before pursuing teacher training or educational psychology
