SEND Teaching Assistant

A caring and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with severe Autism.This is a highly rewarding role that requires a confident, patient and resilient individual with a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils who have complex communication and sensory needs.The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child''s academic, social and emotional development, helping them access learning and thrive within the school environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school daySupport a KS2 pupil with severe Autism to engage with learning activitiesImplement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviourWork closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionalsAdapt activities and resources to meet the pupil''s individual needsEncourage independence, confidence and social interaction where appropriateSupport transitions and maintain a structured, predictable learning environmentEssential RequirementsPrevious experience supporting children with severe Autism in a school settingStrong understanding of Autism and associated communication and sensory needsExperience managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategiesCalm, patient and resilient approachExcellent communication and ..... full job details .....
