About the Role
Monarch Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a welcoming primary school in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
This rewarding role involves working closely with a child to support their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, social development, and independence throughout the school day. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with class teachers, SENDCOs, and parents to ensure the pupil receives the highest standard of support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND.
- Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school activities.
- Implement strategies and interventions identified within the pupil''s support plan.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Foster the pupil''s confidence, independence, and social skills.
- Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals to support the pupil''s development.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records where required.
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare procedures are followed at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
- A level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent
- A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- A good understanding of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
