ANZUK Education are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a new all-through specialist school in Leatherhead for children aged 2-19. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for children with a range of complex needs, and you''ll play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally.
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
Pay: £102.60-£119.70 per day, Umbrella (PAYE options available)
Availability: Monday - Friday, Monday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Friday
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs in year 8 and 9, including but not limited to: autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities
- Assist with planning and delivering lessons and activities that are accessible and engaging for students with special educational needs
- Help to develop and implement individual health and care plans (EHCPs) and behaviour plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other support staff
- Monitor and record student progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other support staff
- Provide personal care and support as needed, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance when needed
- Provide emotional and behavioural support, helping students develop positive coping mechanisms
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable, ideally in a school setting
- Some knowledge of different types of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students with those needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to take direction from teachers and other senior staff
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to changing needs and priorities
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- A caring and patient attitude with children and young people
- A genuine passion for working with students with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential
