SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with additional needs in a school based in Luton. This role includes personal care responsibilities, so prior experience or a willingness to support children with physical and personal care needs is essential.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide individualised support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, physical disabilities, complex medical needs, and global developmental delays.

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND

• Assist with personal care tasks including toileting, feeding, and mobility support

• Support students with their learning, communication, and emotional regulation

• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies

• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

• Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND

• Comfortable with or experienced in providing personal care

• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting learners

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification) – desirable but not essential
