Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Sheffield
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time (term-time only)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our supportive school community in Sheffield from September 2026. This role involves working closely with students who have a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support students with personal care where required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting students with autism or behavioural needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Training in Team Teach, Makaton, or similar interventions
