If you have experience supporting vulnerable individuals, promoting independence, managing challenging situations or building positive relationships, your skills could be an excellent fit for a specialist school environment.
Why are your skills transferable to an SEN school?
Working in care, social care or youth support develops many of the core skills needed to support learners with additional needs.
These include:

* Behavioural support: Using patience, empathy and appropriate strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
* Communication: Supporting individuals who may have additional communication needs.
* Promoting independence: Encouraging confidence, life skills and personal development.
* Safeguarding: Understanding professional boundaries, confidentiality and the importance of keeping vulnerable individuals safe.
* Resilience and adaptability: Remaining calm, consistent and supportive in challenging or unpredictable situations.
These skills are valuable across a range of settings, including SEN schools, specialist provisions, alternative education settings and other environments supporting children and young people with additional needs.
Your experience counts, and Aspire People can help you explore opportunities where your existing skills can make a difference.
What will the role involve?
As an SEND Support Worker, your responsibilities may include:
* Supporting pupils with autism, learning disabilities and other additional needs.
* Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
* Supporting communication, emotional regulation, social development and engagement in learning.
* Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
* Following individual support plans, behaviour strategies and safeguarding procedures.
