Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs? If so, we are looking for a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join a specialist primary setting full time, on a temporary basis, starting immediately.

Job spec & Description:

  • You will support children aged 5 to 11 years who have profound Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom also have communication and interaction needs.
  • You will work alongside highly experienced professionals delivering individualised support in line with EHCP outcomes.
  • Your role will involve helping with emotional regulation, supporting engagement with learning, helping in both academic (English, Maths) and non-academic (social skills, communication) areas.
  • The environment is small (max 8 pupils), offering a nurturing setting, with a high level of adult support and specialist interventions.

  • Someone with experience, or a strong interest, in supporting children with SEMH and communication & interaction needs.
  • Patience, empathy, resilience and a calm presence.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with individualised plans / EHCPs.
  • Ability to help children regulate their emotions, maintain routines and build trust.
  • Flexibility, creativity in supporting learning in a small, nurturing setting.
