Leader Group is working on behalf of a small, specialist SEMH school to recruit an experienced and driven Assistant Headteacher.

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting the Headteacher with the day-to-day leadership of the school, with a particular focus on behaviour, pastoral support, and maintaining a positive learning environment. You will help ensure that all pupils are engaged, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.

This small SEMH provision supports pupils who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the strategic and operational leadership of the school
- Lead on behaviour management and promote a consistent, positive approach across the provision
- Oversee pastoral care, ensuring pupils’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything
- Support staff in managing challenging behaviour through coaching and guidance
- Contribute to improving attendance and pupil engagement
- Work closely with families, carers, and external agencies
Help drive school improvement and maintain high standards of teaching and learning
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or SEND
- Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a senior role
- Strong behaviour management and pastoral expertise
- Resilient, empathetic, and solution-focused
Excellent communication and leadership skills
