SEN Tutor (Must transport young people)

Prospero Teaching is seeking a supportive, positive, and encouraging Tutor to work with a young person transitioning into Year 8, who has an EHCP and a diagnosis of ASD and Anxiety. This student finds the traditional classroom environment overwhelming and has experienced significant gaps in their education. The successful Tutor will deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions and provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
About the Student:
- Enjoys card games, especially Uno, and has a strong interest in Maths and numbers.
- Has a fantastic imagination but finds writing challenging.
- May appear shy at first, but once comfortable, is chatty with a great sense of humour
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with ASD and Anxiety.
- A nurturing and patient approach to learning.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to create a safe, structured, and fun learning environment.
As a n SEN Tutor you will:
- Deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions tailored to the student''s interests and needs.
- Provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
- Build a trusting relationship with the student, encouraging confidence and creativity
About you:
- Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
- Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement them
- Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
- Ability to support learning through engaging, interest-led activities

Hours - 12 hours per week
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
- Background in SEN education or therapeutic support
- Experience supporting children in community or outdoor settings
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
