The role involves helping the child regulate emotions, remain engaged in learning, and access the curriculum in a supportive and structured way. The pupil experiences: Short periods of engagement with learning activities Episodes of heightened emotions, including vocal outbursts Difficulty remaining in the classroom for extended periods, benefiting from movement and sensory breaks We are looking for someone who can: Use calm, supportive de-escalation techniques Redirect focus and guide the child back to a regulated state Provide sensory activities, structured breaks, and time away from the classroom when required Encourage reintegration into lessons and build positive, trusting relationships Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral teams Experience with SEMH needs, positive behaviour support approaches, or trauma-informed practice is highly valued.
