About the Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive SEND school in RM3. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to develop academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND needs
  • Support pupils with ASD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD, and other additional needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Support pupils with their communication, social and emotional development
  • Promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, lunchtimes, and wider school activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other members of the support team
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting individual needs
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential
  • A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
