Pupils are working at a variety of levels, including Entry Level and Functional Skills pathways.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Support pupils with their learning, communication and personal development both in class and through individual or small-group interventions.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.
  • Provide personal care where required, including supporting pupils with toileting, changing and feeding, while maintaining their dignity and promoting independence.
  • Use a range of communication strategies, including visual supports and AAC, to support pupils'' individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils'' independence, confidence, communication and social interaction.
  • Assist with behaviour support using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
  • Support pupils with sensory regulation and therapeutic activities throughout the school day.
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of all pupils at all times.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with complex needs, SLD and/or ASC.
  • Is confident supporting pupils with a wide range of communication, sensory and learning needs.
  • Is willing and able to provide personal care as part of the role.
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience and a calm, positive approach in challenging situations.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or has equivalent experience (desirable but not essential).

What the School Offers

  • A committed and welcoming staff team with a supportive leadership team.
  • High-quality training and ongoing professional development.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with complex needs.
  • A nurturing, inclusive and well-resourced learning environment.
  • A strong culture of collaboration, respect and continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who is committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential and thrive both academically and personally.
