We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic specialist secondary school in North Manchester, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their welcoming team from September.
The school provides a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment for students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping every pupil reach their full potential both academically and personally.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and within the classroom. Your encouragement and consistency will help students develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students with ASC and additional SEND needs.
- Building positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and progress.
- Delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group learning support.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
- Supporting learning activities linked to individual student needs.
- Working cohesively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
- Using initiative to provide consistent support throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will:
- Be passionate about supporting young people with additional learning requirements.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- Work effectively as part of a collaborative team while also using their own initiative.
- Be patient, resilient and committed to helping every student succeed.
- Have experience in education, care, youth work or SEN settings (desirable).
- Hold Team Teach training or be willing to undertake it (desirable but not essential).
