Are you a patient, resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting primary-aged pupils with additional needs?

A warm and welcoming primary school in Wythenshawe, South Manchester is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team from September. The school boasts an excellent, well-resourced SEN hub and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to thrive.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant or Care Worker looking to develop their career within a nurturing primary school.

The Role

Working alongside teachers and the wider SEN team, you will provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them engage with learning, develop confidence and build independence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Supporting pupils with ASC/Autism and a range of SEND needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and progress.
  • Supporting learning activities and adapting approaches to individual needs.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
  • Providing consistent, patient and encouraging support throughout the school day.
  • Helping maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

We''re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be patient, resilient, compassionate and proactive.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have experience in SEN, education, care, youth work or support settings (desirable).
  • Hold Team Teach training or be willing to undertake it (desirable).
