This specialist school located on The Wirral is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team and make a meaningful difference to students in Key Stages 3 and 4, at a school that is part of an established academy trust.
About the School
The school provides personalised education for students with additional needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). With bespoke small-group learning, dedicated sensory and regulation spaces, and strong partnerships with families and external professionals, the school helps students prepare for post-16 education, employment and independent adulthood.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs.
- Support students with SEN and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Help implement EHCP targets, learning activities and personalised interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
- Encourage communication, confidence, social skills and independence.
- Work closely with teachers, families and external professionals to support student progress.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people, ideally in SEN or SEMH settings.
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- Confidence supporting behaviour and individual learning needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent relevant experience, is desirable.
