The Role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school from September 2026.

Working closely with teachers and specialist staff, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual targets. This role would suit both experienced SEN Teaching Assistants and individuals passionate about building a career within special education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with special educational needs both in and out of the classroom
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education, care, or support settings
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with pupils
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour when required
  • A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of special educational needs
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
