The Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant with a focus on SEMH, you will be instrumental in supporting pupils who may face challenges in behaviour, emotional regulation, or mental health. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team, you will help to deliver tailored support that enables pupils to access learning and feel secure in their school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and other additional needs
Assist in implementing personalised learning and behaviour support plans
Create a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Monitor and encourage positive social and emotional development
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure joined-up support
Track and report on progress and areas of concern, helping to refine support strategies
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant, or Psychology/SEN-related degree) are desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
