1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term Position

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Watford is looking to appoint a caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs. This full-time, long-term role begins in September 2026 and is well suited to individuals with experience in SEN or those keen to build a career in inclusive education.
The RoleIn this position, you will provide tailored, one-to-one support to help a pupil fully engage with their learning and school experience. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver individualised support to a pupil with SEN, adapting learning activities as required
- Assist with classroom learning, daily routines, and social interaction
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Track progress and share feedback with teaching staff
- Support the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support
- Contribute to school life and help foster a positive, inclusive environment
The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.
You will:
- Have experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to follow guidance from teachers and SEN professionals
- Feel confident supporting both academic progress and social development
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
