Supply Desk is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Borehamwood area. This role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to pursue a career in education or educational psychology, or someone with experience in care or support work who is passionate about helping children with additional needs succeed.

• Provide tailored support to pupils within the specialist SEN unit, adapting your approach to meet individual learning and communication needs
• Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to support academic, social, and emotional development
• Support pupils during integration into mainstream lessons and wider school activities where appropriate
• Use visual timetables, communication aids, sensory resources, and structured routines to promote engagement and independence
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for each pupil
• Assist with recording observations and monitoring progress towards individual education and support targets
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent strategies and help pupils develop self-regulation and confidence
• Support pupils with personal care or medical needs where required, always maintaining dignity and respect

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs, either in education, care, or a similar setting
• An understanding of additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language needs, ADHD, or moderate learning difficulties
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, patient, and flexible approach to supporting children with a range of needs
• A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping every child reach their potential
