SEN Teaching Assistant – Rickmansworth

Pay: £85–£115 per day, dependent on experience

Supply Desk are currently looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the Rickmansworth area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff, you will provide tailored support to help pupils access their learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual potential.

The ideal candidate will have a nurturing and positive approach, with the patience and understanding required to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play an important role in creating a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment where every child is supported to succeed.

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs
• Provide effective 1:1 and small-group support according to individual pupil needs
• Assist pupils with accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, communication, and social development
• Help pupils build confidence, independence, and resilience
• Monitor and communicate pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external professionals
• Implement individual support strategies and adapt approaches where necessary
• Encourage pupils to engage positively with their learning and peers
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
• A good understanding of a range of SEN needs and appropriate support strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, empathetic, and positive approach
• Strong behaviour management skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people''s development
• An understanding of safeguarding procedures
• Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school setting is desirable
