We are currently recruiting for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive special educational needs (SEN) school in Walsall. This is a full time position starting in September 2026, with the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the right candidate.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs. You will support students within the classroom, in small intervention groups, and on a one to one basis, helping them access learning and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Provide one to one and small group support to help pupils achieve their learning objectives.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, communication, confidence, and independence.
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support pupils'' emotional wellbeing and contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
  • Build positive relationships with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals.
  • Observe and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree (or be in their final year of university) in any subject, or relevant experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
