Reeson Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting autistic pupils across schools and SEN settings in Southampton, Hampshire.

Role Highlights for a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
• Pay: -80100 per day, depending on experience and assignment.
• Location: Southampton, Hampshire.
• Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.
• Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

You will provide one-to-one and small-group autism support, adapting your approach to each pupil''s communication, sensory and learning needs.

• Follow individual support plans and use visual timetables or communication aids.
• Prepare pupils for changes in routine and transitions between activities.
• Adapt tasks and prompts to encourage participation and independence.
• Work with teachers and SENCOs, recording observations that help review support.

What We''re Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or credible transferable experience supporting autistic children or young people.
• A SEN Teaching Assistant who is patient, observant and consistent when responding to individual needs.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or sensory support is helpful where relevant to the assignment.
• Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
