Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

Your work as an SEN Teaching Assistant will reflect the school and pupils you support, with the setting and requirements discussed before each placement.

• Provide focused support during lessons, interventions and agreed school routines.
• Break activities into manageable steps and reinforce teacher-led explanations.
• Encourage communication, engagement and independence using the school''s agreed approaches.
• Work with teachers and SENCOs to follow plans and report changes in pupils'' responses.

What We Are Looking For in an SEN Teaching Assistant

• Relevant SEND experience through school work, childcare, care, mentoring or youth support.
• An adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant who builds relationships and takes guidance well.
• Good communication, safeguarding awareness and a dependable approach to attendance.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one, alongside satisfactory safeguarding checks.
