Responsibilities

A SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional learning needs during lessons and school routines.

The SEN Teaching Assistant may provide 1:1 or small-group support depending on the booking.

A SEN Teaching Assistant may work with pupils with autism, ADHD, SLCN or learning difficulties.

Help pupils understand tasks by breaking learning into manageable steps.

The SEN Teaching Assistant will reinforce communication, regulation and behaviour strategies.

Encourage participation while developing pupil independence.

A SEN Teaching Assistant will follow EHCP targets or individual support plans where relevant.

Work collaboratively with class teachers and SEN staff.

What We''re Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

Previous SEN Teaching Assistant, school or SEND experience, or credible transferable experience working with children, young people or vulnerable people.

Relevant backgrounds can include childcare, youth work, mentoring, tutoring, sports coaching, care or behaviour support.

Patient, dependable and comfortable adapting to different school environments.

Strong safeguarding awareness.

Flexible SEN Supply

A SEN Teaching Assistant can choose available working days and accept suitable bookings across Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone, Chingford and surrounding Waltham Forest areas. A SEN Teaching Assistant can also be considered for longer-term placements if interested.
