Reeson Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant with an interest in speech, language and communication support across the borough of Waltham Forest, East London, including Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone and Chingford.

This opportunity suits a patient SEN Teaching Assistant who gives pupils time to communicate and can make instructions and classroom routines easier to understand.

• Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
• Pay: -85.50110 per day, depending on experience and assignment.
• Location: Waltham Forest, East London.
• Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.
• Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

You will support pupils with speech and language needs one-to-one and in small groups, following strategies agreed by teachers, SENCOs and relevant specialists.

• Use visual resources and clear, manageable instructions.
• Develop vocabulary, listening and interaction so pupils can participate more independently.
• Reinforce specialist recommendations without working beyond your training.
• Share observations on communication, participation and progress with the team.

What We''re Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or credible transferable experience supporting children with communication needs.
• A SEN Teaching Assistant who listens carefully, uses consistent approaches and works well with school staff.
• Experience with Makaton, PECS or speech and language programmes is advantageous.
• Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
