SEN Teaching assistant

Prospero Teaching are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Swindon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs, behavioural difficulties and additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while developing their confidence, independence and social skills. The role may involve supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour, so patience, resilience and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships are essential.

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN
• Supporting pupils with learning, communication and development
• Helping pupils manage emotional and behavioural challenges
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Adapting activities and learning to meet individual needs
• Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
• Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement
• Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

• Previous SEN experience is highly desirable
• Experience supporting SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs
• Patient, empathetic and resilient
• Confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• Passionate about helping children and young people reach their potential
• Relevant qualifications desirable but not essential, depending on experience

This role would suit experienced SEN TAs and LSAs, support workers, youth workers, graduates or anyone with relevant experience looking to build a career within SEN education.
