Brief description:
Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant required for a secondary school supporting pupils aged 11-18 with physical disabilities and learning difficulties. Classroom experience and personal care skills essential.

About the role:
Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will work with students across KS3 to KS5 within both the SEN Department and mainstream classrooms. You will support young people with physical disabilities and learning difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence throughout the school day.

We''re looking for a dedicated candidate to:

  • Support students aged 11-18 across KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • Provide classroom support within mainstream lessons and SEN settings
  • Assist students with physical disabilities and learning difficulties
  • Provide personal and intimate care where required
  • Support mobility needs and follow manual handling procedures safely
  • Encourage engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals

Requirements -

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Previous experience working in a school classroom environment
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
  • A valid Manual Handling Certificate
  • Experience providing personal or intimate care
  • Experience supporting students with physical disabilities and learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, proactive and caring approach
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
