A specialist SEMH school in Blackpool is looking for a resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team. The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, trauma-related needs, and associated behavioural challenges.

Working alongside experienced teachers and pastoral professionals, you will provide 1:1 support, small-group interventions, and classroom assistance, helping pupils overcome barriers and re-engage positively with their education.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
• Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
• Recognising individual triggers and signs of dysregulation
• Using effective de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
• Supporting pupils to return successfully to learning
• Maintaining clear routines, expectations, and boundaries
• Developing pupils'' confidence, resilience, social skills, and independence

This role requires someone who can see beyond challenging behaviour and understand the underlying needs of the young person. You will combine empathy and patience with confidence and consistency, becoming a reliable adult pupils can trust.

Ideal Candidate - SEN Teaching Assistant

• Previous SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour experience highly desirable
• Experience in PRUs, alternative provision, residential care, youth work, support work, mentoring, or sports coaching welcomed
• Calm, resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent
• Confident maintaining firm and consistent boundaries
