SEN Teaching Assistant
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated Outstanding secondary school that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a male student transitioning into Year 7 from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience supporting children and young people with complex needs who can provide consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support for a student with Global Learning Delay and Emotional Development Delay. The student requires personal care and benefits from working with a calm, patient, and understanding adult who can help them navigate school life successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Supporting the student''s academic, social, and emotional development.
- Assisting with personal care when required.
- Building a trusting and positive relationship with the student.
- Promoting independence and confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Supporting the student during lessons, transitions, and breaktimes.
- Encouraging engagement in learning and school activities.
What We''re Looking For
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working within SEN, support work, care, or residential settings.
- Be comfortable providing personal care.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
- Be able to build strong professional relationships.
- Be committed to helping students reach their full potential.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be proactive and adaptable to the student''s individual needs.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Friday.
- Typical school hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
- Be willing to complete Prospero Teaching''s registration and compliance process.
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Be able to provide professional references.
