About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Islington for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, term-time basis.
The provision supports students with a range of additional needs, including ASD and ADHD, many of whom require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people by helping them achieve positive outcomes in a supportive and structured environment.
Main Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD, ADHD and additional social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour.
• Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and participation.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement individual support plans.
• Assist in creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Support students both inside and outside the classroom where required.
• Record observations and contribute to monitoring student progress.

About You

• Previous experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school or similar specialist setting is essential.
• Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Team Teach training is desirable.
• Confident using behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
• Calm, resilient and able to remain composed in challenging situations.
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
• Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while using your own initiative.
