About the Role
Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming primary school in Westminster to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.
This is a varied role combining general classroom responsibilities with targeted SEN support. You will work alongside the class teacher to support learning across the classroom while also providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
The position would suit someone who enjoys the variety of a general Teaching Assistant role but also has the confidence and experience to provide more individualised support when required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Delivering targeted literacy, numeracy and communication interventions
- Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or learning difficulties
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement
- Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation where required
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor pupil progress
- Preparing resources and assisting with general classroom activities
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with primary-aged children
- Has experience or a strong interest in supporting pupils with SEN
- Is confident working both 1:1 and with larger groups
- Is proactive and able to identify where support is needed
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is reliable, patient and enthusiastic
Applications are also welcomed from graduates in psychology, education, speech and language, childcare or other relevant fields looking to develop their school-based experience.
